JOB OVERVIEW:

The AI Governance Delivery Manager sits within the AI Team and is responsible for bringing structure, discipline and operational rigour to the way AI use cases are identified, assessed, prioritised, governed and delivered across the bank. This is a business-facing role that combines strategic oversight with hands-on delivery, ensuring the bank’s AI Governance Framework is embedded into day-to-day ways of working and that all AI initiatives, including CoPilot, new AI tooling and business-led AI use cases, follow the right security, governance, risk and control processes. The role will work closely with business stakeholders, AI Product, AI Engineering, Technology, Security, Risk, Compliance, Data Protection, Legal and Architecture to ensure AI is adopted responsibly, proportionately and in line with the bank’s strategy, values, risk appetite and evolving regulatory expectations.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

AI Governance Delivery & Operationalisation:

  • Own the practical operationalisation of the AI Governance Framework, ensuring it is translated into clear processes, templates, decision points, controls and evidence requirements.
  • Bring structure to AI requirements gathering, documentation, prioritisation, governance and delivery tracking across the AI portfolio.
  • Ensure all AI use cases are assessed consistently, with clear articulation of business value, data usage, risk profile, control requirements, delivery dependencies and ownership.
  • Maintain a structured view of the AI use case pipeline, including status, priority, governance stage, key risks, decisions, blockers and next steps.
  • Design and maintain practical artefacts such as intake forms, assessment templates, governance checklists, prioritisation criteria, risk triage materials, decision logs and control evidence packs.
  • Track actions and decisions from AI governance forums and ensure follow-through with accountable owners.

Governance, Risk, Security & Controls:

  • Ensure AI initiatives are reviewed against the bank’s AI Policy, AI Governance Framework, information security standards, data protection requirements and relevant risk management processes.
  • Coordinate the involvement of Security, Risk, Compliance, Data Protection, Legal, Architecture and Technology colleagues at the right stage of each AI initiative.
  • Lead the definition and implementation of controls for CoPilot, new AI tooling and AI-enabled business processes.
  • Ensure each AI use case has appropriate documentation covering purpose, scope, data usage, model or tool selection, human oversight, testing, monitoring, limitations, residual risks and control arrangements.
  • Identify and escalate governance, security, data, regulatory or operational risks where appropriate.
  • Ensure AI use cases do not progress into pilot, production or adoption without the appropriate approvals, controls and evidence in place.

Responsible AI, Regulation & External Developments:

  • Stay current on evolving AI regulation, industry practice, responsible AI standards, emerging governance approaches and relevant regulatory expectations.
  • Translate external developments into practical implications for the bank’s AI governance, controls, adoption and delivery approach.
  • Support the ongoing development of responsible AI principles, guidance, standards and training materials.
  • Ensure ethical considerations are embedded into AI use case assessment, including fairness, transparency, explainability, accountability, privacy, security, customer impact and colleague impact.
  • Provide clear briefings and recommendations to senior stakeholders on changes required to the AI Governance Framework or associated controls.

Business Engagement, Adoption & Prioritisation:

  • Work alongside AI Product Lead, partnering with business areas to ensure governance, controls, communications, training and adoption requirements are considered together.
  • Support the controlled rollout of Copilot and other AI tools by ensuring adoption plans are aligned to security, governance, data protection and responsible use requirements.

Delivery Discipline, Reporting & Continuous Improvement:

  • Establish and maintain clear governance reporting for the AI portfolio, including use case status, risk position, control readiness, decisions, actions and escalations.
  • Create practical management information to support AI governance forums, senior stakeholder updates and prioritisation conversations.
  • Monitor the effectiveness of AI governance processes and recommend improvements where they are unclear, inefficient or difficult to apply.
  • Drive consistency in documentation, evidence capture, decision-making and handover across AI initiatives.
  • Support audit, assurance or regulatory review activity by ensuring AI governance evidence is well-organised, complete and accessible.

EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Degree level education or equivalent professional experience in technology, risk, governance, data, compliance, business management, change delivery or a related discipline.
  • Typically 5+ years’ experience in technology governance, risk management, regulatory change, digital transformation, AI governance, data governance, technology delivery or a related role.
  • Experience operating in a regulated environment, ideally financial services.
  • Strong understanding of governance, risk, control and assurance principles, with the ability to translate frameworks into practical delivery processes.
  • Good understanding of AI, data usage, model risk, responsible AI, information security and privacy considerations.
  • Experience working with cross-functional stakeholders across business, technology, security, risk, compliance, legal, data protection and architecture.
  • Experience creating structured documentation, governance artefacts, process maps, decision logs, risk assessments, control evidence and management information.
  • Strong organisational and delivery management skills, with the ability to bring structure to ambiguous or fast-moving areas.
  • Ability to interpret evolving regulation, policy or industry guidance and translate it into practical implications for internal governance and controls.
  • Experience supporting technology adoption, change management, user enablement or responsible use programmes is desirable.
